Just out of curiosity, anyone heard the new guns and roses? Supposedly 4 songs leaked. Im just wondering if the train wreck continues or if they're really any good. Guns and Roses was a tad bit before my time, but you just have to be curious.
I read a british rock mag on a plane flight back from the UK. It had some interesting stuff on the album. I guess Axel thought it was really good years ago, but he had to bring in a new producer for a couple of more songs. The producer told him that the album was crap and had to be totally re-recorded. That led to Axel's lack of confidence in the project.

I had told myself I wouldn't waste my time listening to any of the "no guns, just rose" crap but I finally cracked out of sheer morbid curiosity.
Just yet another reminder that I should trust my gut; it's brutal, man, fucking wretched. I'm a lesser man for having suffered through it.
I love "GNR Lies" but its hard to listen to that anymore without thinking of what a magnificent jerkoff this guy is (and I'm not ordinarily that kind of guy, I mean, the fact that H2O made "Go" doesn't stop me from enjoying the earlier stuff).
Well, I told myself I wouldn't rant- so much for that...

Axel Rose was on some MTV thing a couple of years ago and his voice was totally shot. It sounded like he hot boxxed a pack of marlboros and ate a plate of gravel. I saw where a band was considering naming their album "Chinese Democracy... You Snooz You Lose." I thought that was pretty funny.

yeah that was the Offspring, but Axl and his team of hotshot lawyers threatened to sue the shit out of them, so they went with Splinter instead.

They would have done it if they weren't under Sony, which would have been some funny shit. Guns and Roses waits all those years to release Chinese Democracy, only to be beated to it by an Orange County punk band. But that's the cool thing about the Offspring. Even though they're on a big label, they still do what they can to fight it. The other time they ran into hot water was when they put their whole album up on the net for free before it was release....Sony shit fire after that one. Gotta love sony.

I think this new one will be crap. Appetite for Destruction is GnR's only good album. "You could be mine", "Perfect Crime", and "Dead Horse" are the only good songs the Use Your Illusion albums have between them, Lies wasn't up to much, and the Spaghetti Incident was just a fucking embarrasment.
I think Velvet Revolver are good. Even when they do "sensitive ballad" type songs they pull it off, instead of writing pretentious shite like "November Rain" and "Estranged".

Man, I REALLY hate Guns'n'Roses. When I was at school, I was the little kid (I am 6'2" now) who loved The Specials, The Jam,The Clash, The Beat and otherss, when all the other kids were into heavy metal.
Alright, Guns'n'Roses were not around but metal still sucks partly because of what happened at school. But most depressingly, is Tommy Stinson - he of The Replacements - still the bass player?
Tommy played a solo gig in London, billed as Guns'n'Roses bass player
